About the Game

Freelancer was developed by Digital Anvil and published by Microsoft Game Studios for Windows in 2003. It began as a project led by Chris Roberts, the creator of Wing Commander, and is set in the Sirius sector, colonised by four nations from Earth.

The player, Edison Trent, is a freelance pilot who flies a story campaign and can then trade, take missions, mine and fight freely across the sector. Its mouse-driven flight controls and online play made it popular with a lasting modding and server community.
