KeeperFX (Dungeon Keeper Fan eXpansion) fixes up, enhances and modernises Dungeon Keeper, Bullfrog’s 1997 game in which the player builds a dungeon and rules its monsters. It began as a decompilation of the original game’s executables; since then the whole codebase has been remade and rewritten.
It runs on current Windows with higher resolutions, a higher frame rate separated from the game logic, modern controls and many bug fixes. It adds an improved computer opponent, a modern multiplayer protocol and a lot of new content, from extra campaigns and maps to creatures, along with tools that let mapmakers and modders change almost anything.
It needs the original game’s files as proof of ownership.
How to Set It Up
- Download the complete package and extract it with 7-Zip into a folder of its own.
- Run
keeperfx.exe(or the launcher). On first start it copies the needed files from your Dungeon Keeper CD or install. - Change the resolution and controls in the launcher, then start a campaign.
