About the Game

The Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall was developed and published by Bethesda Softworks for MS-DOS in 1996. Its game world, the Iliac Bay region of High Rock and Hammerfell, is about the size of Great Britain, with thousands of towns, dungeons and villages, much of it generated by the computer.

The player is sent by the Emperor to the kingdom of Daggerfall to lay a ghost to rest and recover a letter, and the main story branches into several endings. Characters are built from a detailed skill system, and the game offers guilds, banks, houses, ships and a reputation system. Bethesda made it free to download in 2009; it is also hosted on this site.
