Overview

Random MapsMap EditorWidescreen

Open Fodder is an open-source game engine for Cannon Fodder, Sensible Software’s 1993 action strategy game in which a small squad of soldiers is steered through jungle, desert and arctic missions with the mouse. It plays the retail releases of Cannon Fodder and Cannon Fodder 2 from the PC CD and Amiga versions, along with six Amiga magazine cover-disk demos and a PC demo.

On top of the original campaigns it adds random map generation, scripted with a built-in JavaScript interpreter, a map editor, and options for the PC or Amiga look. Demos can be recorded and played back.

Because its installer includes data from the magazine demos, the downloads are not mirrored here: get them from the project’s GitHub releases page.

How to Set It Up

  1. Download OpenFodder-Installer.exe from the project’s GitHub releases page and run it.
  2. To play the full game, copy the data of your Cannon Fodder or Cannon Fodder 2 release into the matching folder under Open Fodder’s Data folder, as described in its readme.
  3. Start Open Fodder and pick the version and campaign to play.
