What you need: The files of Caesar III, version 1.0.1.0, from a CD or the GOG or Steam release.

Augustus is a fork of [Julius](/microsoft/windows/games/caesar3/ports/julius/), the open-source re-implementation of Caesar III, that changes the gameplay rather than reproducing it exactly. It keeps Julius's interface improvements and adds long-wanted features such as roadblocks, special orders for markets, a global labour pool, partial warehouse storage, higher limits and zoom.

It loads Caesar III and Julius saves, but its own saves only work in Augustus. For the original rules with interface improvements, Julius is the better choice.

## How to set it up

1. Download the build for your system.
2. Either copy Augustus into your Caesar III folder, or run it from its own folder and point it at Caesar III when it asks. The game folder must be writable, as saves go there.
3. If it says your game is not patched, install the 1.0.1.0 update linked from the Julius wiki.
