Alley Cat puts you in the paws of Freddy, a tomcat who leaps between bins, fences and clotheslines to slip through open windows. Each room hides a challenge, from stealing cheese from a mouse-filled wedge to catching fish in a bowl, and the reward is a visit to the lady cat of his dreams.

Bill Williams wrote it for IBM in 1984, and its CGA graphics and PC speaker tunes made it one of the best known early PC games.

## How to set it up

1. Install [DOSBox Staging](/microsoft/ms-dos/emulator/dosboxstaging/) or another DOS emulator.
2. Unzip the download into a folder of its own.
3. Start DOSBox Staging and type `mount c "<folder>\alleycat"`, where `<folder>` is where you unzipped the download, then `c:`.
4. Type `CAT.EXE` to start the game.
