About the Game Boy Colour
The Game Boy Color, often referred to as the GBC is Nintendo’s fourth attempt at the handheld game console market. Specification wise it did not differ much from its predecessor the Game Boy. However it introduced one big new feature and that was the ability to display the picture in colour, rather than the Gray scale present in its predecessor. Thanks to largely having the same hardware, this enabled the Game Boy Color to remain backwards compatible with older games.
This backwards compatibility was a huge advantage when coming up against its competitors as it allowed the handheld to inherit a large game library right off the bat and not rely completely on a couple of games to generate sales.
The Game Boy Color proved to be a huge success, going on to sell over 118.59 million units. A number that far exceeded its competitors of the time, the Neo Geo Pocket and WonderSwan.

BasicBoy – BasicBoy is a Game Boy Color emulator written purely in Microsoft Visual Basic. There is not much to say about this emulator as it doesn’t sport any big feature or even that great compatibility.
BGB – BGB is an emulator/debugger for the Game Boy, Game Boy Color and Super Game Boy systems. The goal of BGB is to try and provide an accurate emulation of the hardware.
DreamGBC – DreamGBC is yet another Game Boy Color emulator. There isn’t an awful lot to say about this emulator. It does appear to be discontinued with no development been seen since 2005.

GBE+ – GBE+ is a new emulator on the block for the GBC emulation scene, despite being new to the scene it already offers fantastic emulation for the GBC alongside featuring some unseen features that haven’t really been seen in any GBC Emulator. That being the ability to replace graphics within the game without having to resort to rom hacking, allowing even monochrome games to be turned into a colour game.
