Hatari

Hatari is an Atari ST emulator started by Thomas Huth in 2001 and now developed by a small team. It emulates the ST, Mega ST, STE, Mega STE, TT and Falcon, and its cycle-accurate ST and STE emulation runs demos that depend on exact hardware timing. The 68030 and Falcon DSP emulation came from the WinUAE and Aranym projects.

Hatari ships with EmuTOS, a free replacement for the Atari operating system, so most games and programs work without an original TOS ROM. It can use floppy disk images in the ST, MSA, DIM and STX formats, emulate hard disks and connect MIDI to the host computer. A built-in debugger with a disassembler, breakpoints and a profiler makes it popular with developers.

Hatari is actively developed, and version 2.6.1 was released in August 2025. Official builds are available for Windows and macOS, and most Linux distributions package it. It is also available as a libretro core. Hatari is released under the GNU GPL.
