- Supported systems: Atari 5200, Atari 8-bit
- Runs on: Windows, Linux, macOS

Atari800 emulates the Atari 5200 console and Atari's 8-bit home computers, the 400, 800, XL and XE series. David Firth wrote the first version in 1995 and released it under the GPL, and a team of developers took over the project after he stopped working on it.

The emulator was written in portable C from the start, so it runs on Windows, macOS and Linux, and has been ported to many other systems over the years. It supports cartridge, disk and cassette images, and emulates common expansions and peripherals.

Recent versions include replacement operating system and BASIC ROMs from the Altirra emulator, so many games work without any ROM files from Atari. For the most accurate results you can still use original ROM images from your own hardware.
