Arcade PC Ports
Arcade PC ports run arcade games as native programs, with no emulator. Many add things the original boards couldn’t do, such as widescreen, higher resolutions and online play.
Decompilation projects rewrite the game’s code by hand until it compiles back to the original game, which takes years but gives code that is easy to change. Recompilation projects use a tool that translates the game’s machine code automatically, which is much faster.
None of these downloads include the game itself. Each one needs the game’s ROMs, in the form MAME uses, dumped from your own board.
